At Howard, the academic side of the college experience takes top priority.  As soon as our student/athletes arrive on campus they begin to experience how proud we are of our comprehensive academic support program.  Each student/athlete is required to attend  study halls throughout the academic calendar in our lab/study room located in the Athletic and Fitness Center.  In addition, Howard's generous staff of academic advisors have set up the student/athlete "Early Registration Program" in which our student /athletes are able to be advised, and register for the next semester's classes before the rest of the general student population.  This allows our players to gain priority access to classes and times that they may need to maximize their chance for success in the classroom.  

Access to tutors at no charge to the student/athlete is another way that Howard Lacrosse and it's academic support team seperate itself from other competing colleges thoughout the region.  This access is a very important tool which helps each student/athlete to develop a truly individualized academic program.  In addition, Howard's "Dream Team", a group of faculty members whose sole purpose it is to help student/athletes with any questions or issues they may encounter academically or otherwise,  is available to each student/athlete. 

And finally, to help monitor the daily progress of our student/athletes, the athletic and academic staffs have joined forces at Howard to institute the bi-weekly progress report system.  In this program each student athlete is required to have their professors fill out a progress report sheet every two weeks throughout the academic calender, supplied by the athletic department, which keeps the coaching staff updated on the academic progress of each student/athlete.  

All of these tools are key components in the support structure in place here at Howard to help our student/athletes reach their potential in the classroom, and eventually lead them to success at the 4-year college/university level.   Many of our student/athletes have earned Academic All-Region and Academic All American honors during their time at Howard before moving on to the 4-year  level.  As we continue to grow as a lacrosse program, our commitment to excellence in the classroom remains our top priority.
